The Rip tells the story of a police team in Miami, Florida, who stumble upon a massive amount of cash in an abandoned house. Carnahan also stated that “The Rip” is partly inspired by the real-life experiences of a close friend who works in the police force in Miami, as well as his love for classic crime films from previous decades such as Serpico (1973), Prince of the City (1981), and Michael Mann’s Heat (1995).
