Actor George Clooney has admitted he no longer wants to perform kissing scenes with female co-stars on screen, following a candid conversation with his wife, lawyer Amal Clooney.

The actor shared that he is entering a new phase in his career and choosing to follow the path of another Hollywood icon. In a recent interview, George Clooney said he was inspired by the late Oscar-winning actor Paul Newman, who once declared he would not film romantic scenes with anyone other than his wife, Joanne Woodward, according to E! News on December 16th.

He stopped filming kissing scenes due to age and respect for his wife.

“I’m trying to follow the path Paul Newman chose. Okay, I’m not going to kiss any more girls on screen. When I turned 60, I had a frank conversation with my wife about it. I said, ‘I’m still healthy, still keeping up with everyone. But in 25 years, I’ll be 85. No matter how many cereal bars I eat, that’s a very real number,’” the Ocean’s Eleven star revealed.

“I’m 64 years old now. I have no intention of competing with 25-year-old actors. That’s no longer the right job for me. Maybe I won’t be doing romantic movies anymore,” George Clooney shared.

Besides age, George Clooney frankly admitted that his refusal of kissing scenes with female co-stars stemmed from respect for his wife.

Previously, in an interview with The New York Times in 2022, George Clooney recounted a humorous anecdote from his early career, when he had trouble with a director over his on-screen kissing scene: “I remember when I first started, I had to do a kissing scene with a girl and the director told me: ‘That’s not how.’ I thought: ‘Hey man, that’s how I do it in real life. That’s my style.’”
