Doctor Octopus will reportedly fight the X-Men in ‘AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY

New details about Avengers: Doomsday‘s opening scene have come to light, and it’s not good news for fans of Tobey Maguire‘s Spider-Man.

Maguire’s inclusion in Avengers: Doomsday is something of an open secret. While Marvel Studios has not confirmed his involvement in the movie, the actor has been part of several reports from scoopers. MyTimeToShineHello has repeatedly spilled details about Maguire in Doomsday, such as that his Spider-Man suit will be all CGI and that he’ll share a scene with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 4 seems unlikely with latest Avengers: Doomsday update
Now, according to Nerdrotic, via his latest Nerdrotic at Night livestream, Maguire’s Spider-Man will be revealed fairly early in Avengers: Doomsday. “There’s Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man world with Tobey Maguire Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus fighting the Fox X-Men, and the Fox X-Men destroy Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, and he dies.”

If true, Maguire’s Spider-Man’s demise in the opening moments of Doomsday would certainly come as a shock to longtime Marvel fans.

Maguire originated the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man on the big screen. He led Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy (2002, 2004, 2007) and was originally set to return for a fourth movie, before it was scrapped by Sony in favor of a hard reboot, 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield.

Both Maguire and Garfield returned for Tom Holland’s third Spider-Man movie, 2021’s No Way Home, which brought all three live-action Spider-Mans together for the first time. The superhero movie was a major hit, leading to fans campaigning for Sony to finally greenlight Maguire’s Spider-Man 4 and Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man 3.
