SPAWN 2 (2026)

Genre: Action, Dark Fantasy, Superhero Horror

Director: Todd McFarlane & Michael Bay

Screenplay: Todd McFarlane, Brian Michael Bendis

Runtime: 2 hours 35 minutes

Main Cast: Jamie Foxx (Al Simmons / Spawn), Jeremy Renner (Jason Wynn), Angela Bassett (Cyan Fitzgerald), Hailee Steinfeld (Nyra / The Redeemer), and newcomer Jack Champion as the new Hellspawn.

Five years after the events of the first film, Al Simmons – Spawn – has become a shadowy protector of Rat City, fighting crime and the forces of Hell. He lives in darkness, struggling to control the Necroplasm that is slowly consuming his soul. Wanda Blake has remarried and now has a young daughter named Nyra. Al continues to watch over his family from afar, unwilling to drag them into his hellish world.

The story begins with a series of brutal murders sweeping across Rat City. The victims are all high-profile politicians, businessmen, and senior police officers — all of whom once worked with Jason Wynn. Wynn, now a presidential candidate, is secretly running Project “Heaven’s Spear” — a bioweapons program that combines angelic and hellish technology stolen from Malebolgia.

Although Malebolgia was destroyed in the previous film, his soul has fragmented and regenerated into Violator 2.0 — a more powerful, intelligent version capable of perfect shape-shifting and manipulating entire governments. Violator becomes Wynn’s top advisor, promising him eternal power in exchange for opening a new portal to Hell on Earth.

Spawn is pulled back into the war when Cyan Fitzgerald — now 12 years old and possessing powerful precognitive abilities — becomes a target. Cyan has visions of a “Red Apocalypse”: the sky over Rat City covered in blood, with an army of new Hellspawn rising from the ground. Al is forced to reveal himself to Wanda for the first time in years to protect her daughter.

Meanwhile, in Heaven, the Angelic Council decides Earth is out of control. They send The Redeemer — a young, cold-hearted female angel warrior created from the souls of holy crusaders. Her mission is to eliminate all remaining Hellspawn on Earth, including Spawn. However, after encountering Al, Redeemer begins to question whether Heaven is truly righteous.

A major action highlight is the brutal battle between Spawn and Violator inside an abandoned factory. Violator reveals a horrifying truth: Al Simmons is not the only Hellspawn. A secret government program called Project Spawn, run by Wynn, has resurrected hundreds of dead soldiers into new, controlled Hellspawn. These “Spawn 2.0” are stronger, emotionless, and completely obedient.

The climax takes place in Washington D.C. during Wynn’s presidential inauguration. Violator opens a massive Hell portal at the Lincoln Memorial, unleashing a gigantic army of demonic creatures. Spawn, with his evolved K7-Leetha suit in Ultimate Spawn form (full red-and-black armor, massive chains, and powerful Necroplasm morphing), leads an epic battle across the capital’s skyline.

Cyan uses her precognitive powers to reveal the only way to close the portal: sacrificing a pure Hellspawn soul. Redeemer, having witnessed Heaven’s own corruption, chooses to side with Spawn. She sacrifices herself to seal the portal and transfers part of her angelic power to Al.

In the final confrontation, Al faces Jason Wynn. Wynn taunts him: “You’ll never save your family, Simmons. Both Heaven and Hell want you dead.” Spawn plunges his hand through Wynn’s chest, rips out the remaining fragment of Malebolgia’s soul, and crushes it.

The film ends with Al standing on a rooftop in Rat City, watching Wanda and Nyra from afar. Wanda senses his presence and whispers, “Thank you for still protecting us.” Spawn nods silently and vanishes into the shadows.

Post-credit Scene 1: A new Hellspawn awakens in a secret laboratory. The face beneath the mask belongs to a familiar figure from Al’s past.

Post-credit Scene 2: In another dimension, The Mother (the embodiment of Creation) appears and says: “The war between Heaven and Hell is just a game. The ones truly in control… are humans.”

The movie stays true to the dark, violent, philosophical, and horror-filled essence of the Spawn universe. The CGI for Spawn’s suit and the large-scale battles are significantly upgraded, blending practical effects with high-end 3D animation. The score, composed by Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL, delivers a heavy, atmospheric, and intense sound.
