Thirteen years after the legendary Beanstalk event, the kingdom of Cloister has entered an era of prosperity. Jack (Nicholas Hoult returning) is now a renowned knight, husband to Queen Isabelle (Eleanor Tomlinson), and father of two children. He lives in the castle but keeps the magical beanstalk seed safely locked in an iron box, vowing never to open it again.

The story begins in the year 2026 according to the Cloister calendar. A terrifying seven-day storm shakes the entire kingdom. When the storm clears, the people are horrified to see a colossal tower of stone and metal floating in the clouds — a gigantic “Sky Scraper.” From this tower, giant figures descend, not to plunder, but to “harvest.” They begin pulling up trees, rivers, and even people into the sky using massive chains made of solidified clouds.

Jack realizes these are not ordinary giants. They belong to the ancient “Celestials” tribe — giants who were exiled to the clouds by the gods thousands of years ago after their war with humanity. Now they have returned under the command of King Thundor (played by Dwayne Johnson), a highly intelligent 15-meter-tall giant wearing armor forged from lightning and wielding a massive axe capable of splitting clouds in two. Thundor believes humans have “stolen” the earth and it is time to reclaim what belongs to the giants.

During a surprise attack on the capital, Jack and Isabelle’s eldest daughter — 16-year-old Princess Elora (played by Thomasin McKenzie) — is captured and taken to the sky. Jack is forced to break his oath, open the iron box, and plant the magic bean once more. This time, the bean does not grow into a single stalk but branches into three enormous intertwined trunks forming a giant spiral staircase leading straight into the clouds.

Jack’s journey is joined by:

• Sir Roderick (a grumpy but brave old knight, played by Mark Hamill),
• Lira (a talented young sorceress who can control wind, played by Anya Taylor-Joy),
• Krag (a giant defector and former bodyguard of Thundor, 9 meters tall, with a humorous and loyal personality).

They climb into a completely new world: Skyrealm — a network of colossal Sky Scrapers connected by bridges made of dense fog. These towers are not just homes but giant machines capable of controlling weather, harvesting solar energy, and generating storms. Thundor is building a final device called the “Storm Engine” to pull the entire Cloister continent into the sky, turning humans into permanent slaves.

Jack and his team sneak through the different levels of the Sky Scrapers. The lowest level is the labor zone, where thousands of captured Cloister citizens are forced into slavery. The middle level is a floating city with hanging gardens and sky markets. The highest level is Thundor’s ice-and-lightning palace. During their journey, they discover a horrifying secret: Thundor doesn’t just want land — he needs the heart of a “Blood of the First Climber,” which is Jack’s own bloodline, as only it can fully activate the Storm Engine.

Epic battles unfold one after another:

• A fight on the cloud bridges, where Krag must face his own brother.
• A high-speed chase using “Sky Gliders” — flying machines made from giant bones that glide across the clouds.
• The final showdown between Jack and Thundor atop the tallest tower as a raging storm and lightning rain down everywhere.

Elora is no helpless victim. She secretly learns to use the ancient giant technology, sabotages part of the Storm Engine from within, and creates an opening for her father. The climax features Jack standing on Krag’s shoulder, wielding the reforged Excalibur blade empowered by lightning, striking directly into the machine’s energy core.

In his final moments, Thundor reveals his personal tragedy: he once lost his entire family when humans destroyed the ancient Beanstalk. Jack convinces him that both races can coexist if hatred ends. Thundor sacrifices himself to destroy the Storm Engine, saving the kingdom of Cloister from being pulled into the sky.

The magic beanstalk is destroyed for the second time, but this time Jack keeps the smallest remaining seed and gives it to Elora, saying: “Your generation will decide when it is time to climb to the sky, and when it is time to leave it alone.”

Ending: Skyrealm partially collapses but remains floating high above like a sky island. Jack returns as king, older and more weary. The film closes with an image of Elora standing on the castle roof, gazing at strangely forming clouds — subtly hinting at the possibility of a sequel.

Overall, Jack the Giant Slayer 2: The Sky Scrapers is a worthy sequel that honors the spirit of the original while intelligently expanding the universe, setting the stage for a potential new trilogy.
