Opening: Post-Apocalyptic World Setting

Decades after the apocalypse, Australia has become a radioactive wasteland where clean water and food are the most precious resources. The “Green Place of Many Mothers” – a rare lush oasis with water and agriculture – is one of the last remaining havens. The film is divided into five chapters, told in a non-linear style with flashbacks and continuous action, emphasizing themes of revenge, loss, and resilience.

Act 1: Chapter 1 – The Pole of Inaccessibility

Key Events: The Horde is repelled by War Boys in armored vehicles. Dementus uses a “Trojan Horse” tactic to seize Gastown – an oil refinery supplying fuel to the Citadel. In peace negotiations, Joe recognizes Dementus’s control of Gastown in exchange for doubled food and water supplies, plus the Organic Mechanic (Angus Sampson) – the Horde’s mad doctor – and Furiosa. Furiosa is locked in Joe’s “wife vault,” where he keeps women as breeding machines for his heirs.
Climax Conflict: Furiosa witnesses Joe’s brutality through his son, Rictus Erectus (Nathan Jones), a lustful giant. She crafts a wig from her own hair to disguise her gender. One night, Rictus breaks in to rape her, but Furiosa escapes by using the wig to fool him. Disguised as a mute War Boy (with a scar over her mouth), she climbs the ranks in Joe’s forces over more than a decade, learning vehicle repair and combat.
Act End: Adult Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy), now a seasoned warrior, begins planning her escape by joining the construction of the War Rig – a massive supply truck designed to withstand road raids.

Act 3: Chapter 3 – The Stowaway

Setting: The Citadel, 16 years later. Furiosa is now a top engineer but keeps her tattooed map secret.
Key Events: Furiosa sneaks aboard the War Rig driven by Praetorian Jack (Tom Burke) – Joe’s top driver, a lone veteran – as he hauls supplies. En route, Octoboss (now rebellious, disgusted by Dementus’s cruelty) leads Mortifiers (crude gliders) in an attack, killing the crew and destroying Furiosa’s hidden bike.
Climax Conflict: Furiosa and Jack fight back together: She throws grenades, he dodges fire while driving. After defeating the attackers, Furiosa tries to steal the Rig to head home, but Jack easily subdues her. Instead of killing her, he recognizes her skill and offers to train her as a driver in exchange for helping recruit a new crew.
Act End: Furiosa becomes Jack’s partner, learning Wasteland survival lessons: “There’s not always a way home, but there’s always a way to survive.”

Act 4: Chapter 4 – Homeward

Setting: Gastown is collapsing under Dementus’s poor management, leading to war with the Citadel.
Key Events: Furiosa and Jack are promoted to Praetorians. They develop a deep romantic bond and plan to escape together. Joe orders them to Bullet Farm – an ammo mine – for weapons before attacking Gastown. However, Dementus has seized Bullet Farm and ambushes them.
Climax Conflict: An intense chase: Dementus’s vehicle rams the Rig, flipping it and trapping Furiosa’s left arm (with the tattooed map) in the wreckage. Dementus captures Jack, torturing and dragging him to death with chains – a prolonged action sequence with bikes and gunfire. Furiosa amputates her own arm to escape, losing the map to the Green Place forever. She crawls back to the Citadel, where she and the People Eater (Melissa Jaffer) – Joe’s advisor – plan to trap Dementus. The Horde is crushed by War Boys in a massive battle at the Citadel.

Act 5: Chapter 5 – Beyond Vengeance

Setting: The barren desert after the battle, with a brief cameo of Max Rockatansky wandering like a ghost.
Key Events: Furiosa hunts the remnants of Dementus. After a long chase with armored vehicles and explosive traps, she captures him in the desert. Instead of immediate killing, she imprisons Dementus at the Citadel and uses his body as fertilizer for the peach tree grown from her mother’s seed – a symbolic image of slow revenge and the cycle of life and death in the Wasteland.
Climax Conflict: Joe promotes Furiosa to Imperator, assigning her command of the new War Rig. She encounters Joe’s five “wives” in the old vault, giving them a peach from the tree – hinting at the upcoming rebellion. The night before the next haul, the five wives hide in Furiosa’s Rig.
