A jaguar found a man whom poachers had tied to a tree deep in the jungle and left alone: but what the predator did left him in complete shock
The man noticed them too late. Four poachers were already nearby. They moved through the thick vegetation, talking loudly and not hiding their weapons. He stepped toward them and tried to stop them.

• You have no right to hunt here. This is a protected area, he said, trying to stay calm.
  They exchanged glances and then burst out laughing, as if they had heard something funny. One of them stepped forward, looking at him with mockery.
  And who is going to stop us? You? – he replied coldly.
  A second later, everything went wrong. They grabbed him roughly, pushed him against a tree, and began tying him up. The ropes dug into his body, tightening more and more until he was completely immobilized.
  Let him sit here. Maybe some predator will find him faster, one of them said with a smirk.
  They secured him tightly so he couldn’t even move, and, laughing, walked away, leaving him alone in the middle of the jungle.

Silence fell around him. Only the sounds of the forest and his heavy breathing.
He tried to free himself, but the ropes wouldn’t give. His hands went numb, his body ached, and fear slowly turned into despair.
Someone… – he whispered quietly, but his voice was swallowed by the thick air.
After some time, he suddenly heard a strange sound. Not human footsteps. Something else. Heavy, confident.
He slowly turned his head… and froze.

  The jaguar took a step. Then another. It came very close.
  The man closed his eyes, expecting the attack, but it didn’t come.
  He carefully opened his eyes and saw that the predator was already standing right in front of him. Its paws rested on the man’s chest, pressing him against the tree. The animal’s breath was hot, heavy, very close.

  The animal began to carefully sniff his face, then his shoulder, then the ropes. Its behavior was strange not like that of a predator before an attack.
  Then the jaguar suddenly turned its head and sank its teeth into the rope.
  At first, the man didn’t even understand what was happening. It seemed like the animal was just examining him. But then the rope tightened and creaked.
  The jaguar was tearing at it. With each pull, the knots loosened. The fibers cracked, and within a few seconds, one of the ropes snapped.
  The man took a deep breath, unable to believe what was happening.
  Another pull and the ropes loosened completely. His body went limp, and ne could barely stand.

A few months earlier, he had found a trap in the jungle. Inside it, a young jaguar was struggling. Its paw was caught, the animal growled and thrashed in pain.
Back then, he hesitated for a long time, but eventually took the risk. Slowly carefully, he freed the paw and stepped back.
The jaguar hadn’t attacked him then either. It had just looked at him. And now, it seemed, it had recognized him.

The jaguar watched him for a few more seconds, calmly, almost attentively.
Then it slowly removed its paws, turned around, and disappeared silently into the dense vegetation. The man stood there for a long time, not moving.
